Choosing A Wedding Venue

There are many things to decide when planning your wedding. While many countless hours can go into planning the minute details of making your special day perfect, it is often the surprises that make the day the most memorable. We would like to share one with you that happened at the venue pictured above.

Recently, the Innocenti Strings recently performed at the Deering Estate in Cutler Bay, Florida. It was a beautiful day and perfect for an outdoor wedding - sunny, with a cool breeze coming off of the ocean. The musicians arrived ahead of the guests and were treated to this spectacular view. It was too much for us to resist taking a picture of the setting.

The bride and groom could hardly wait to walk down the aisle and could not stop staring at one another when they finally were able to meet in front of their guests. During the vows, there was a sudden noise in the water and we all turned to see from where the sound originated. A pair of manatees had surfaced right by the ceremony and were quietly floating in the water watching the proceeding! Everyone laughed and snapped a few pictures. It was an unplanned moment that made the day most memorable.

Whatever venue you choose for your wedding, there will always be the little things that are unexpected that will give you some of the best memories of your wedding day.

All of the musicians and performers at Innocenti Strings would like to wish you happy holidays and wish you a great new year.

As we look forward to 2012, there are many things to think about when planning your wedding. Music plays a very important role whether it is the song you have always wanted to hear as you walk down the aisle, or background cocktail music. We have over ten years of experience and can help you plan every musical detail at your wedding.

Looking forward to your wedding this year, as part of the wedding planning process, we would like to offer you a few points of advice for planning the music at your upcoming wedding.

1) Think of a song that has meant a lot to your or your family over the years. Pick whatever comes to mind first; from Beethoven to Disney. As performers we are happy to offer you whatever you would like. Please see our listing at www.innocentiquartet.com/audio.html. We are also happy to arrange a special song to you. Setting the mood with the first song or arrangement that comes to mind will give you an unforgettable walk down the aisle.

2) Think of the mood that you would like to set for your wedding. Caterers, florists, or bridal dress consultants will all ask you for the theme or color scheme for your wedding and music should be no different. While it may seem intimidating to pick a "musical theme" for your wedding we are happy to assist you. It can be as simple as wanting the music at your wedding to be "romantic" or "modern" and we are able to take it from there for you. We have several hundred musical selections to choose from and are always just a phone call or e-mail away for any question you may have.

3) Talk to your family to see if there are songs that are important to them you would like included in the wedding. Every season we perform selections that mean a lot to a relative or friend of the family. Having a specific song requested by someone close to you in the wedding party or in the audience will help everyone feel included and will add a special, personal, element to the ceremony that will mean a great deal to you.

Kansas City:

Kelly Bohling: Kelly Bohling holds a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from KU. Her performance highlights include the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, Helianthus Contemporary Ensemble, and KU’s Collegium Musicum. She has also appeared as soloist with the Hot Springs Festival Orchestra. When Kelly is not performing, she is busy teaching, with a full violin studio in Lawrence and Kansas City.

Ellen O'Hayer: -Cellist Ellen O'Hayer received her Bachelor's Degree in Cello Performance from the DePaul University School of Music in Chicago. She is a member of the Topeka Symphony Orchestra, and has held section positions with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Quad City Symphony, as well as a principal position with the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra. Ellen is an active performer and teacher in the Kansas City/Lawrence area.

San Diego:

Violinist FangFang Li has an active career as a performer and educator. Ms. Li began violin studies at the age of 4. At age 14, she was accepted to Idyllwild Arts Academy in California to study with Todor Pelev. She attended the Aspen Music Festival with a fellowship in

2001. The same year, Ms. Li entered the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) as a full scholarship recipient to study with Kurt Sassmannshaus. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in violin performance in 2006 and 2008. As an accomplished violin teacher, Ms. Li has taught young and adult musicians for many years. She was a graduate teaching assistant at CCM, she was also on the violin faculty of the Starling Preparatory String Project and the Sassmannshaus Tradition program. With the Baur Quartet, Ms. Li has also served as faculty member at the Great Wall International Music Academy in Beijing and the Wyoming Center for the Arts in Ohio. Ms. Li recently moved to San Diego and looks forward to all the new adventures here!

Ms. Li frequently performs as a recitalist and chamber musician. As a member of the Baur Quartet, Li has taught and performed internationally. The Baur Quartet was named the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s first Fellowship String Quartet in Residence. They have played numerous concerts and held master classes at local schools throu

ghout the states.

Nashville:

Esther McMahon: Violinist Esther McMahon is an extremely seasoned and accomplished musician, at home in a wide variety of genres including classical, fiddle, pop, and rock. Esther has studied with Susanna Klein, Matt Combs, and most recently graduated from Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music under Professor Christian Teal. In 2008, she was invited with her string quartet to attend the Aix-en-Provence festival in France to perform and work with members of the Berlin Philharmonic. The following spring, Esther spent five months in Vienna, Austria studying with renowned soloist, Barbra Gorzynska. In addition to pursuing a career in classical music, Esther is quite adept in the recording studio. She has had the opportunity to work with many Nashville based artists including Jessica Campbell, Josiah Hawley, Molly Jewell, and Caitlin Nethery. Esther has also worked with several talented producers, including Ben Shive, Scott Hundley, and Nick Spezia

Emily Nelson: Cellist Emily Nelson's passion for the string quartet was cultivated at a young age, and has attended chamber music festivals every summer since the age of twelve. Taught by Felix Wang at Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music, Nelson has soloed with Idaho Falls

Symphony and the Oregon East Symphony, and has played with several other music groups across the Northwest. Her intensive training including a masterclass under famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma, developed her ability to play a number of eclectic musical styles and has made Nelson an in-demand studio musician, leading to her recording with Nashville-based artists Young Republic, Elenowen, and Tom Schreck. An award-winning musician, Nelson was a finalist in the Tennessee Cello Workshop Concerto Competition and the recipient of the prestigious Jean Keller Heard Strings Prize while at Vanderbilt. Recently, Nelson traveled to Europe where she performed several concerts with the Ars Nova String Quartet and participated in the 2010 Vanderbilt Music Academie in France.

Randall West is a composer and sound artist whose catalog includes music for the concert hall as well as electroacoustic, vocal, and experimental music. His music tends to explore novel ways in which performers or sounds interact, while directly engaging its audience with colorful timbres, striking melodies, and a vivid theatricality. His musical inspiration spans from 20th century modernism to the baroque, Indian classical, Japanese folk, electronic, avant-garde, and popular music.

Randall received his Masters from the Chicago College of the Performing Arts, where his he studied with Stacy Garrop, Daron Hagen, and Kyong Mee Choi. He has been awarded fellowships by the Seasons Music Festival and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and was the recipient of the CCPA Wind Ensemble Competition for Wayna Picchu. His works have been read or performed by Palomar, the Yakima Symphony, the University of Illinois New Music Ensemble, Chicago Opera Vanguard, and S.O.N.G. among others. His electroacoustic music has also been presented at ICMC 2010 in New York and at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art. As an active member of the Art and New Music community, Randall has collaborated with award-winning artists including poets Jill McDonough and Matthew Hittinger and sculptor Robert MacNeil. He has served in leadership roles with Accessible Contemporary Music and is one of the founders of the Chicago Composers Orchestra. Randall also works as a computer programmer, and is a pianist and performer of traditional Japanese music on shamisen and taiko.

Michael O'Gieblyn:

An accomplished violinist, violist, and versatile musician, Michael O'Gieblyn adroitly navigates across musical genres including classical, Broadway, fiddle, and pop music. He performed in the world premiere of the Broadway musical The Glorious Ones, playing solo violin and mandolin, and on the soundtrack to the 2006 MGM motion picture Home of the Brave.

An avid chamber musician, he was recently featured on two newly released CD’s by Paul Luc and Christina Chirumbolo.

Mr. O’Gieblyn participated in international summer festivals in Montpellier, France; Beverly Hills, CA; and Pilsen, Czech Republic, and received the “Marylin and Ray Gindroz Prize” to study in Europe.

He holds a degree with honors in violin performance from Carnegie Mellon University where he studied with Cyrus Forough. Mr. O’Gieblyn has performed with the Erie Philharmonic, McKeesport Symphony, and the Österreich Vienna Classic Philharmonic's 2010 tour

LAUREN'S PERSONAL BIO
Ms. Mindoro’s passion for the music started at the age of 10 when she was chosen to be part of the Emmy-Award winning Disney’s Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra. She was one of 72 children chosen among 800 children auditioning across the United States and Canada. She held the position with the orchestra for 3 years and subsequently became the principal violist of this orchestra when she was 12. She pursued her love for the violin until she earned the opportunity to attend top ranking music conservatories in college. Among the conservatories she attended were the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where she was the recipient of the Howard Hansen Scholarship and later graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from New York City, an alumnus of the Manhattan School of Music where she was principal second violinist of the Manhattan School Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Mindoro graduated with honors from her Master’s Degree in Violin Performance from the Thornton School of Music at University of Southern California where for the past two years she was the recipient of a Merit Scholarship.
Ms. Mindoro has performed in Copley Symphony Hall, the California Center for the Arts, the Eastman Theater, Hollywood Bowl and the Walt Disney Hall and has shared the stage with world class musicians. She has been a featured soloist for the following orchestras: The San Diego Young Artists Symphony Orchestra, the International Philharmonia of Tijuana, Mexico and the La Jolla Symphony Orchestra.
She has won the Martin Rackin Foundation Scholarship of the Young Musicians Foundation of Los Angeles, California, the first place award for the 2002 La Jolla Young Artists competition and the first place Grossmont Women’s Scholarship awards for both 2002 and 2008. She has also won first place in the American String Teacher’s Association competition in 2001 and 2002 and first place in the Rancho Bernardo Chorale Scholarship Competition in 2002. Most recently, Ms. Mindoro won the USC String’s Department Award.
Ms. Mindoro is also an accomplished pianist. She has won several competitions in San Diego and was the pianist for 3 choirs. She continued taking piano during her years in Conservatory. Today, she performs and teaches piano in the San Diego area.
Her teachers include Michael Gaisler, Hernan Constantino, Abram Shtern, Zvi Zeitlin, Laurie Smukler, Lyndon Taylor, Margaret Batjer, and Hagai Shaham.
Currently, Ms. Mindoro is freelancing on both violin and piano in the Southern California area (North County San Diego). She is available for events such as parties and weddings and is also available to do recitals and concerts. Ms. Mindoro is also available for private lessons in the San Diego, CA area.

Minneapolis Wedding Ceremony Music String Quartet

Innocenti Strings LLC is proud to have the Mill City String Quartet among its roster of talented musicians comprised of Angela Hanson, Erika Hoogeveen, Huldah Niles, and Jeffrey Erbland. The four professional Twin Cities musicians are dedicated to excellence in performance and education.

The quartet was founded in Minneapolis/St. Paul during the fall of 2007. Their goal was to rehearse regularly, studying and performing the major works in the classical repertoire. During the first two years, the quartet played at schools, churches, weddings, and other special events, establishing their presence in the Cities. In the summer of 2008, a concert and master class was given at Monticello high school, which was very well received. The quartet has plans to return to this venue.

June 2009 marked the culmination of two years' work and the first full recital for the group. The event came off as a huge success, thanks to regular coachings from cellist and artistic director of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Association, Tom Rosenberg. It was noted by many that the group played with precision and musicality.

The ensemble is embarking on a new chapter of its existence, redefining themselves as a prominent chamber group in Minneapolis/St. Paul, and working towards the goal of performing multiple recitals in 2010.

Angela Waterman-Hanson completed a doctor of music arts degree in violin performance at the University of Minnesota, where she studied with Sally O'Reilly. Originally from Wheaton, Illinois, Hanson has a bachelor of music degree in violin performance from St. Olaf College, where she studied with Charles Gray, and a master's degree in violin performance also from the University of Minnesota. A member of the Minnesota Opera Orchestra (and concertmaster during the 2006-2007 season), Hanson performs often as a substitute violinist for the Minnesota Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. She was recently named the concertmaster for the Dakota Valley Symphony in Burnsville, and also plays regularly with the Mill City String Quartet and the Minnesota Sinfonia. Hanson has performed with many other groups including the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Josh Groban, Vocal Essence, Kantorei, the South Dakota Symphony, the Wheaton Symphony, and the Chicago Youth Symphony, and has attended the Aspen, Bravo!, and Kent/Blossom Music Festivals. Hanson currently teaches violin lessons in the twin cities area at Bethel University, Grace Free Lutheran Church/Heritage Christian Academy, the Association Free Lutheran Bible School (AFLBS), and at her home in Coon Rapids, where she lives with her husband, Andrew

Erika Hoogeveen received her Master's degree in violin performance and Suzuki pedagogy at the University of Minnesota, studying with Sally O'Reilly. In 2004, she began a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conjunction with her Master's degree, but after a year put her DMA studies on hold with the arrival of her first child. Erika's Bachelor of Arts degree in violin performance was completed at Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA, studying with Rick Lohmann and Margaret Carpenter. As a winner of Young Artist Competitions for the Cherokee Symphony and the South Dakota Symphony, she had the privilege of soloing with both orchestras. She also performed twice as a soloist with the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra. Erika has participated in the Bravo Music Festival and the Northern Lights Music Festival. A founding member of the Mill City String Quartet, she also regularly performs with the South Dakota Symphony. Other groups she has played with include Kantorei, the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra (as associate concertmaster and principal violist), the Sioux City Symphony, and the Cherokee Symphony. Erika has been on the violin faculty of MacPhail Center for the Arts, St. Joseph's School of Music, and Dordt College in Sioux Center, IA. Currently, she teaches private lessons in her home in St. Paul where she resides with her husband and two children

Huldah Niles is an accomplished violinist and violist. Ms. Niles currently plays with the Minnesota Opera Orchestra and as Principal 2nd Violin for the Mankato Symphony. She is also a substitute for the Minnesota Orchestra on both violin and viola. Huldah began her music studies on violin at the age of five at the Preucil School of Music in Iowa City, Iowa with Doris Preucil (William Preucil's mother). Through the Preucil School of music, Huldah traveled to Japan with a group of peers from the Cleveland Institute of Music where they played for Dr. Suzuki at his private residence and for the Prince and Princess of Japan in Tokyo. Ms. Niles received both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance from the University of Minnesota under the tutelage of Sally O'Reilly. She has also studied viola with Thomas Turner, Principal Viola of the Minnesota Orchestra

A native of Fairport, NY, Jeffrey Erbland was privileged to enroll in the Eastman School of Music's college preparatory school in his younger years. After receiving diplomas in both Cello Performance and Music Theory from the school, Mr. Erbland continued on to receive his B.M. in Cello Performance from the Wheaton College Conservatory in Wheaton, IL. He has received instruction from Rochester Philharmonic members Polly Hunsberger and Kathleen Murphy Kemp, along with Linc Smelser of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Tanya Lesinsky Carey. Mr. Erbland's orchestral endeavors have been of both domestic and international natures, taking him to numerous states and seven European countries with various regional and honors symphonies. Jeffrey has performed regularly with the Tulip Chamber Players and the Wheaton Chamber Players, along with various community and church organizations. He has studied chamber music with members of the Ying Quartet and the Chicago Lyric Opera's Sharon Polifrone; he has also participated in master classes with Martin Beaver of the Tokyo String Quartet and Peter Slowik of Oberlin Conservatory. Mr. Erbland plays regularly with the Mill City String Quartet, the Lirica Chamber Ensemble, and is a substitute cellist with the Mankato Symphony Orchestra. He runs a small home teaching studio, and is on faculty at Grace Music Academy in Andover, MN, along with the Linden Hills House of Music.

Rev. Renee (Maurine) C. Waun is a seasoned minister who has officiated at hundreds of weddings in the tri-state area in many types of indoor and outdoor locations and venues, including churches, parks, restaurants, homes, back yards, wedding halls, barns, conservatories and museums. Her specialty is personalized ceremonies, unique to each couple and their wishes. She is non-denominational and can work with interfaith weddings as well. Her goal is to create a ceremony that is beautiful, memorable and joyous for everyone in attendance.

Dr Waun has served Unitarian Universalist churches in PA and WV since 1999. Prior to ministry, she spent several years as a teacher on a variety of levels including Montessori, high school and university. -Prelude: 20 minutes during guest arrival and seating

-Wedding Party: Bridesmaids and groomsmen processional and placements

-Bridal Processional: Entrance of the bride

-Interludes: Music for reflection, communion, lighting of the unity candle, or to accentuate readings

-Recessional: Exit of the bride, groom, wedding party, and guests

The price for your prelude + wedding service (up to 1 hour 15 minutes) is

Quartet (2violins, viola, cello)=$690

Trio=(Violin, Viola, Cello)$550

Duo(Violin, Cello)=$440

Solo=$270

*Note that this package includes prelude, ceremony and postlude only, and any remaining time after the end of the ceremony cannot be counted as a cocktail hour or rehearsal. In case of early ending of the ceremony, the musicians will then play 10 minutes of postlude as an ending of the selected package.

For each following hour after the above packages (cocktail/dinner music/other) : $50 per musician.

The little paragraph below will help you understand the qualities and specifics of the different ensembles we can provide for you. That should guide you a little more before making a decision

*String Quartet: Two violins, viola, and cello perform in a wide variety of musical styles. This group is the most effective and versatile, with an extensive repertoire, and full vibrant sound.

*String Quintet: adding a double bass to the quartet increases the volume by deepening the base and gives the feeling of a small orchestra-excellent for the largest parties.

*String Trio: Two violins and cello or violin, viola and cello. This group is very popular, especially for smaller weddings. Not quite as loud as the quartet, but has an extensive repertoire and is better suited for a modest budget and limited space.

*Duo: Two violins, violin and cello or any violin/viola and piano. This is very intimate ensemble, which can create a beautiful atmosphere, but has a limited volume. Excellent for smaller events and spaces

* Solo: One Violin or one Cello. This is our most affordable package. Although the main melody will lack of accompaniment, it offers a very nice touch to any celebration. It is recommended for indoor ceremony only

Note: due to the nature of the piece, the very popular “Cannon in D” can be performed as cannon with a minimum of 2 performers

Greg Nelson is Adjunct Instructor of Cello at St. Cloud State University. Greg received his Bachelor of Music in performance from St. Olaf College under the instruction of Dr. David Carter, and his Master of Music in the same field from the University of Minnesota with Prof. Tanya Remenikova. Mr. Nelson has taught at St. Cloud State University for two years and in addition to his duties at the college he maintains a studio of cellists in the Minneapolis area. He has also been instructor at the Strings and Piano Academy Summer festival at St. Olaf College, and the Chamber Music Midwest festival in New Richmond, WI.

Mr. Nelson has been principal cellist with the St. Olaf Orchestra (with whom he performed Shostokovich’s cello concerto in 2005), the Muncie Civic Symphony, the St. Cloud Symphony, Linden Hills Chamber Orchestra, and the University of MN symphony orchestra. His teachers have included, Dr. David Carter, Mr. Mihai Tetel, Prof. Tanya Remenikova, Mr. Sachiya Isomura, and Arek Tesarczyk among others.

In addition to his educational endeavors Greg maintains an active performance career appearing at various venues in the Twin Cites Metro and St. Cloud areas. He frequently performs in chamber music settings often with other faculty of St. Cloud State University as well as musicians in the Twin Cities. He will be featured as soloist this fall with the St. Cloud State symphony and the Linden Hills Chamber orchestra in performance of the cello concerto by Edward Elgar.

Mr. Nelson is also a proponent of new music and has premiered numerous compositions most notably as soloist in the Mixed Blood Theater company production Bahala Na in 2007. His latest project is a work for Solo cello and electronics, done in collaboration with St. Cloud State Composition instructor Brett Wartchow.

Violinist Benjamin Thacher has performed solo, chamber, and orchestral music around the globe. He has collaborated in music festivals and orchestras with such noted conductors as Christoph Eschenbach, John Williams and Ivan Fischer, among others.

After winning a position with the prestigious Shleswig-Holstein Musik festival under the direction of Christophe Eshenbach, Mr. Thacher has most recently completed a tour of Russia, Armenia, Lithuania, and Germany with the festival orchestra.

As a violin soloist, Ben has performed concerti with several different orchestras which include the Cape Cod Symphony, Nashua Symphony, Metrowest Symphony and the Chatham Chorale Chamber Orchestra. He currently studies with Donald Weilerstein, founding first violinist of the Cleveland quartet. Previous teachers have included the following: James Buswell, Kelly Barr and additional private studies and masterclasses with Midori Goto and Itzhak Perlman. Mr. Thacher has won several competitions, prizes and awards which include the Eugene Lehner Chamber Music Award given by the New England Conservatory for excellence in chamber music.

He is a member of the acclaimed Béla Quartet of whom were two time winners in the prestigious honors competition at NEC. In 2005, his piano trio won first place in the international chamber music foundation of New England which enabled them to perform at Carnegie Hall. He has appeared twice on national radio for NPR’s “From the Top” performing as a soloist and as a concertmaster for the Walnut Hill Orchestra at Boston's symphony hall. Mr. Thacher was personally invited by Toby and Itzhak Perlman to participate in the Perlman Music Program residency in Sarasota, Florida and was among those who soloed under Mr. Perlman's baton as part of this experience. While a participant in this program, he has performed concerts with Perlman at Van Wezel Hall and Carnegie Hall. Dedicated to the growth of the next musical generation, he currently conducts the Nashoba Youth Orchestra in Westford, Massachusetts.
